This gorgeous, handmade acrylic Colorful Hammock & Bag is crafted in Ecuador by artisans Juan and Luz, who began their business 20 years ago with only one weaving machine.
 
At first Juan and Luz only made fabrics, but eventually they began turning their fabric into hammocks. Ten years ago they opened their own shop in Otavalo, and they now have four machines. The additional machines have improved their production capacity dramatically; they have grown from a strictly local business to exporting to Costa Rica, Puerto Rico, Panama, Curacao, the Caiman Islands, Canada, Spain and the United States.  They are raising four children, one of whom has gone on to study industrial engineering and is helping her parents with their business, just as they hope to have their other three children do.  This is the impact of Fair Trade practices on a family, on their children, and on their future.
