"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." ~ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

In an almost endless effort to promote civil rights through nonviolence, Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. became one of the figureheads for equality and civil liberty until his assassination.  By melding his Christian beliefs with Gandhi's nonviolent methods, Dr. King steadily marched toward and spoke vehemently about desegregation, black voting rights, labor rights, and other civil rights.

For countless numbers of people throughout the United States and perhaps worldwide, Dr. King stood at the helm of the civil rights movement and the ripple effects of that movement that are still felt today.  His words of peace, hope, and equality through love and forgiveness, and not hate or violence, reverberated across the globe.

“Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be. This is the interrelated structure of reality." ~ Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
