One-of-a-kind home decor is ALWAYS in style!  And this beautifully crafted Merry Christmas Metal Art is no exception.  Glam up your front door decor or add it to a simple mantle display with some pine or poinsettias.  Light a candle nearby and watch this handmade art glisten in the glow!  No matter which area of your house calls for a bit of handmade holiday cheer, each purchase of any of our Haitian metal art supports the artisan who handcrafted the piece.

The Story:

The Steel Drum Art of Haiti has been famous for decades throughout the world. Metal from recycled steel drums is cut, flattened, and put into a fire to be made malleable. Then the artisan traces the pattern onto the flat piece, and with chisel and hammer in hand, starts the tapping that cuts away all that is not the image. This process takes hours to perfect just the drawing skills necessary to create the pattern before tracing it, and even longer to learn the cutting and metalworking skills.  Artisans prefer working barefoot as they use their feet to turn the metal while working so their hands are free to hammer and chisel.
